We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Product Developer to join our Retailer Brand & Partnership team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from conceptualizing new product ideas to developing and implementing them with our R&D team and customer development managers.
As a Product Developer, you will be responsible for supporting the development of new products, exploring key food and ingredient trends, and brainstorming innovative ideas that are ahead of our competitors.
You will work closely with our R&D team to ensure that new products meet both product and packaging briefs, and collaborate with peer Product Developers to ensure common best practices are kept across the business.
This role requires a strong understanding of product development processes and technical systems, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.
We are looking for a self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team, with a methodical approach and good prioritization skills.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience in a food-related subject and a passion for creativity in food and bakery.
We offer a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment, with opportunities for continuous learning and self-progression.
This role will be based in Batley, with some travel required around the UK.
Main Responsibilities- Support NPD, exploring key food and ingredient trends, new technology and processes to brainstorm products which are innovative and ahead of our competitors.
- Take concept briefs, interpret, and cascade to key functions to ensure project delivery. Co-create recipes with the R&D team which fulfil project objectives.
- Apply personal experience and/or observations to suggest new concepts.
- Organisation of customer samples.
- Working closely with peer Product Developers to ensure common best practices are kept across the business and across different retailers.
- Working with the R&D team to ensure the any NPD meets both the product and packaging brief.
- A degree or equivalent experience in a food-related subject and knowledge of product development process and technical systems.
- Must have experience of working in a fast-paced environment and working under pressure to deliver against internal and external expectations.
- Drive, energy and enthusiasm – a good self-starter and a quick learner.
- Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Methodical approach with good prioritization skills, the ability to work to short deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with wider time and external customers.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent time management.
- Passion for creativity in food / bakery.
- A desire for continuous learning and self-progression.
