Job Title: Children Home Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Children Home Manager to join our team at Meridian Business Support. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for the daily management of our children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our young people.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the daily operations of the children's home, supervising and guiding staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and support.
  2. Model best practice approaches to working with children with challenging behaviors, promoting a culture of excellence and consistency.
  3. Register with OFSTED and work closely with our senior management team to ensure the best interests of our young people, staff, and the company.
  4. Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals in our care.
Key Tasks:
  1. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and frameworks that underpin the home, reflecting best practice and the company's values.
  2. Evaluate the quality of care provided by staff, making improvements where necessary and encouraging continuous growth.
  3. Model best practice approaches to working with children with challenging behaviors, promoting a culture of excellence and consistency.
  4. Ensure effective handovers and debriefs for staff, promoting a culture of open communication.
  5. Participate in the placement of children and their transition process, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience.
  6. Review the staffing structure and support HR with recruitment, induction, and training, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our young people.
  7. Review the budget needs within the home, ensuring effective resource management.
  8. Ensure daily practice reflects the equality and diversity goals of the company and the needs of our staff and young people.
  9. Work effectively with all professionals and multi-agencies required for the best care of our young people.
  10. Conduct supervisions, welfare meetings, and disciplinary meetings as required, ensuring a fair and supportive approach.
  11. Provide consistent leadership, ensuring staff feel respected, listened to, and supported.
  12. Implement performance plans where necessary, assessing skill gaps and working with HR to provide training and mentoring.
  13. Conduct probationary reviews and appraisals, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our staff.
  14. Directly manage team leaders, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to lead their teams effectively.
  15. Participate in scheduling shifts and working on the rota, ensuring the home is staffed appropriately and adequately.
  16. Ensure staff, visitors, and young people are safeguarded daily, and health and safety protocols are followed.
  17. Work with staff to ensure positive outcomes, reducing incidents and providing a safe environment for all.
  18. Report and whistleblow any work situation deemed to cause imminent danger or shortcomings in the employer's protection arrangements.
  19. Monitor and maintain standards against agreed criteria and objectives, implementing quality assurance systems that reflect best practice.

Qualifications:
  1. Relevant Management qualification, such as a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent.
  2. Relevant Social Care qualification, such as an NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.
  3. Willingness to work towards the next appropriate level of qualification and any further courses and training deemed relevant by the company.
  4. Up-to-date safeguarding training.
  5. DBS on update service.
  6. Relevant NVQ/Level 3 Diploma or equivalent.
  7. Pass registration with OFSTED.
