About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Sibling Support Specialist to join our Family Services Team at Acorns Children's Hospice Trust. As a Sibling Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic support to siblings of children cared for by our hospice, ensuring they receive the necessary care and support to cope with the loss of their brother or sister.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of siblings' needs, working closely with the child, their parents, and carers to identify their requirements.
  • Provide individual and group-based pre and post-bereavement support to siblings, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Take a lead role in coordinating and delivering groups, workshops, and occasional residential weekends, ensuring a high-quality service is provided.
  • Collaborate with other Sibling Support Specialists to ensure the objectives of the service are met and siblings receive comprehensive support.
Requirements
  • A professional degree-level qualification in a relevant field, such as social work, nursing, or play therapy.
  • Experience of working with children and young people, including providing one-to-one therapeutic-based support.
  • Experience of supporting families who have experienced bereavement or are anticipating it.
  • Skills in assessing needs and ability to work independently, managing a caseload.
