Community Accountant / Finance Officer

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Minimum of 22, Maximum of 37 hours per week

Salary: £26,546 - £28,582 per annum (full-time equivalent)

Our client, a leading body for supporting and developing the voluntary and community sector in Rotherham Borough, is seeking a skilled Community Accountant / Finance Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area.

The Community Accountant / Finance Officer will support and grow the client's current service in providing high-quality community accountancy services, including accounts preparation, independent examinations, and expert advice. This role will strengthen financial management and practice in voluntary and community organisations, enabling them to deliver the strongest possible impact for the communities they serve.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in accounts preparation (accruals and receipts and payments) and bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer-based accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage, Xero), SORP, and Charity/Company law.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to disseminate information in a clear way to non-financial stakeholders.

The client is flexible in their approach to working hours and is happy to accept applications from individuals wishing to work between 22 hours per week. The role may require attendance at meetings outside of normal working hours, and the successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours when required to meet work demands.
