About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our team at Tarmac. As a key member of our engineering function, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs and implement temporary fixes followed by permanent solutions
  • Own small-scale projects and deliver them in a pragmatic and proactive manner
  • Take a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and coordinate with contractors and suppliers
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through observations and experience
  • Work with risk assessments and method statements to develop safe working methods
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations
Requirements
  • Recognized apprenticeship (preferably higher-level standard)
  • ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred
  • Experience with welding and fabricating to a good standard
  • Fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend action
  • IT literate and capable of using PCs, common applications, and company systems
  • Competent in application-based inspection schemes
  • Ability to assess SHE risks and control risks accordingly
