Salary: £15,156-£15,859 per annum, with 12 equal salary payments

Job Summary:

V-Recruit is seeking an experienced Assistant Catering Manager to join one of the UK's most forward-thinking Multi-Academy Trusts. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management of the academy's catering provision, developing and progressing the provision to deliver healthy, high-quality meals that meet Nutritional Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, cooking, and presenting of food to meet quality, cost, and food and health and safety standards.
  • Assist in the planning of daily menus, making provision for special dietary requirements, and ordering stock accordingly.
  • Ensure the academy's reputation for excellence in both food and service is upheld.
  • Assist the Catering Manager in maintaining stock levels and completing stock returns by the required date.
  • Deputise for the Catering Manager in their absence.
  • Organise and supervise the team of cooks, catering staff, and breaktime supervisors, dealing with any issues that arise.
  • Organise the transporting and serving of meals for students, staff, and functions/events.
  • Wash dishes, cutlery, and all other catering equipment.
  • Help establish and maintain cleaning schedules, and ensure compliance with agreed HACCP, Health and Safety policy, and COSHH Regulations with regard to food, equipment, materials, and general safety.
  • Ensure all equipment is well maintained and is in good working order, and make recommendations for renewal and replacement where required.
  • Comply with the academy's Child Safeguarding Procedures, including regular liaison with the Designation Child Safeguarding Person over any safeguarding issues or concerns.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene qualifications.
  • Some supervisory experience would be preferred.
  • Experience of preparing, cooking, and presenting food to meet quality, cost, and food and health and safety standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to plan whilst staying calm under pressure.
  • Experience of cooking/catering for large numbers.
