This role is for a Clinical Research Fellow specializing in Cardiology, offered on a fixed-term basis for a duration of 12 months.
Training and Development:
This position, while not formally recognized as a training role, provides valuable opportunities for professional growth, including:
- Comprehensive induction and a tailored starter pack detailing available internal training courses for physicians in similar positions.
- Creation of a personalized training plan.
- Access to NHS e-portfolio, with funding provided by the division, contingent upon contract terms.
- Assistance in obtaining an Alternative Certificate to validate competencies, facilitating future access to recognized training roles.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday, with no fixed on-call duties. The role is designed to allocate 100% of working hours to Cardiology research.
Research Environment:
The Cardiology department is highly engaged in numerous significant national and international studies, spanning from phase 2 trials to post-marketing evaluations. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ranks among the top institutions for patient recruitment in cardiovascular research within the NIHR North West Coast. Additionally, we conduct original funded research projects, many of which are incorporated into the NIHR portfolio, potentially leading to first-author publication opportunities.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:
- A primary medical qualification.
- Experience as a Cardiology SHO or SpR.
- A keen interest in research, audits, and publications.
- Effective communication skills in English.
