Production Shift Manager Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Production Shift Manager to join our team at our Simonswood site. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our production shifts. You will lead and motivate your team, overseeing daily planning, task allocation, and adherence to all safety, quality, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all shift start-up and completion activities.
  • Develop and implement daily production plans, including team scheduling, task assignments, breaks, and overtime allocation.
  • Ensure the daily production plan is executed effectively to meet business expectations and customer specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to all food safety, quality, health, and safety regulations. Escalate any issues promptly to relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with various departments and support functions to ensure seamless production operations.
  • Investigate and report on any non-conformances or incidents.
  • Provide guidance and training to new team members, including agency workers, ensuring they are familiar with site processes and procedures.
  • Foster a positive and motivated work environment by encouraging, engaging, and supporting your team.
  • Identify skill gaps and development opportunities for team members to ensure business continuity and engagement.
  • Represent the Production team in meetings or visits as required.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, both internal and external (suppliers, customers, auditors).
  • Provide support and coverage for the Factory Manager and other Shift Managers as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a strong leader with experience in food manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of management/supervisory experience in a food production environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
