Overview of the Role

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing plant efficiency by ensuring that all planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and engineering enhancements are executed promptly. The individual will promote best practices daily, adhering to high engineering standards, compliance, and health & safety regulations.

Biffa Green Energy, a segment of our Resources & Energy division, focuses on converting non-recyclable household waste into solid recovered fuel pellets. These pellets serve as a coal alternative in heavy industry, contributing to significant carbon emission reductions. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a rapidly growing sustainable sector.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high operational availability and provide an efficient breakdown repair service.
  • Diagnose operational faults and implement effective repairs and enhancements within minimal downtime.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive planned preventative maintenance program to reduce downtime, maintain records of recurring issues, and devise engineered solutions.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on plant and equipment.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Stay updated on health & safety and environmental regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Engineering qualifications NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Additional relevant qualifications are advantageous.
