Program Overview

Scotiabank is offering a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in our Global Capital Markets Summer Internship programme. This 10-week internship is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of the financial markets and the daily workings of our Global Capital Markets desks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shadow traders to learn risk management techniques and develop key trading/market making skills
  • Shadow sales teams who cover global clients, including official institutions, bank treasury desks, and global asset managers
  • Provide solutions-based coverage models, including cash, interest rate derivatives, inflation derivatives, options, FX, repo, and bespoke structured solutions across various currencies
  • Interact with stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the global markets and products, with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real-world situations
  • Complete projects set by teams, including preparing market commentary, analyzing client trading data, and other ad-hoc tasks
What You'll Gain

During the internship, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Gain insight into the daily workings of multiple Global Capital Markets desks
  • Develop key skills in risk management, trading, and market making
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and develop a strong understanding of the global markets and products
  • Participate in a centralized programme of activities, including a weekly speaker series, peer-to-peer intern presentations, and social and networking events
  • Deliver a final presentation to leaders within Capital Markets and participate in a CSR activity with one of our chosen charities
Requirements
  • You must be a penultimate year undergraduate student
  • We welcome applications from any degree discipline
  • You must be available for a 10-week period between mid-June and end of August 2025
  • You must have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the financial markets
  • You must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • You must be able to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
  • You must have the right to work in the United Kingdom
