About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Flood Risk Engineer to join our team in SYSTRA UK & Ireland. As a key member of our drainage team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of projects and assisting the Drainage Associate Director.

As a Highway Drainage Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and delivering surface and wastewater drainage systems for major and minor projects. Your expertise in drainage technical design, including Flood Risk Assessments and associated approvals, will be essential in ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Drainage Associate Director and the wider drainage team in delivering projects safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Design and deliver surface and wastewater drainage systems for major and minor projects, including Flood Risk Assessments and associated approvals.
  • Prepare and price scope/briefs, proposals, and deliverables for new projects.
  • Lead projects, manage budgets, resourcing, planning, and programming, while ensuring successful project delivery to time, cost, quality, and other contractual requirements.
  • Represent the company externally at a senior level, managing client relationships and expectations.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy environment.
  • Good knowledge and experience of delivering surface/wastewater drainage design and appropriate approval processes.
  • Experience of drainage technical design on major and minor projects, including a good understanding of design principles and the ability to practically apply them.
  • Good knowledge and use of Sewers for Adoption, Sewers for Scotland, DMRB, MCHW, MfS, Local Authority guides, etc.
  • Good knowledge of standard engineering practices and a demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety, including CDM.
  • IT literacy with excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/Microdrainage/Info drainage, Civil3D, and other civil engineering packages.
