About the Role

This position supports the Head of International Reinsurance Accounting in ensuring a consistent implementation of reinsurance operating models across international markets and in day-to-day accounting activities related to ceded reinsurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reinsurance Accounting: Manage and oversee reinsurance accounting across international markets, set up treaties and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system, validate contracts and calculations, and ensure timely quarterly financial reconciliations.
  • Reporting and Statements: Prepare and analyze financial reports related to reinsurance activities, deliver management reporting to guide reinsurance strategy, and prepare ceded accounts, bordereaux, and recording of related ceded payable and recoverable amounts.
  • System Implementation: Support the implementation of the Everest Insurance Ceded Reinsurance system for international markets.
  • Control Framework: Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of a consistent control framework compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley, covering both reinsurance placement and accounting.
  • Closing Calendar: Support the design and implementation of a closing calendar and controls relating to ceded reinsurance operations.
  • Process Improvement: Support the Head of International Reinsurance Accounting to drive improvements to the ceded reinsurance accounting systems and processes.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies related to reinsurance accounting.
Requirements
  • Qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, or CIMA with proven post-qual experience).
  • Relevant experience in the accounting department of a property and casualty insurance or reinsurance company.
  • Understanding of functions pertaining to ceded reinsurance accounting.
  • Knowledge/experience with Global XL Pro system or other RI system.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Excellent PC skills, proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, energetic individual, keen to get involved in all areas and with a desire for continuous learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and multitask in an ever-changing environment.
