Job Title: Senior Reinsurance Accountant

Join SiriusPoint Ltd. as a Senior Reinsurance Accountant and take on a challenging role that requires strong accounting and analytical skills. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing accounting support to various operating entities and reporting to our VP Reinsurance Controller.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting and Reporting: Responsible for the accounting and reporting of all net (direct, assumed, and ceded) business for various SiriusPoint operating entities under US GAAP.
  • Contract Review: Review of (re)insurance contracts entered into the SICS NT underwriting systems through to the output included in the financial statements.
  • Accounting Memos: Assist with the preparation of accounting memos for complex reinsurance contracts, documenting accounting conclusions for specific features, including risk transfer analysis.
  • Reconciliation: Perform various reconciliation for underwriting general ledger accounts.
  • System Implementation: Key contact for implementations, improvements, upgrades, testing and documentation of (re)insurance finance systems and data warehouses.
  • Process Documentation: Develop, implement, and maintain process documentation and controls over financial reporting.
  • Finance Transformation: Assist with finance transformation projects, including scoping, documenting, and testing.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, plus an Internationally recognized accounting designation (CPA, ACA, CA or equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years work experience with an existing (re)insurance company or with a big four public accounting firm, working with reinsurance company clients.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of reinsurance contract terms and the different methods of premium recognition. Ability to evaluate a complex reinsurance contract for risk transfer. Operational and accounting experience with outwards reinsurance. Advanced MS Excel skills and the ability to navigate complex spreadsheets, and work with large data sets.
  • Soft Skills: High level of competency with Microsoft Office and the aptitude to learn various systems. Experience liaising with external auditors and other accounting and reinsurance professionals. Previous experience with documenting and maintaining Sox controls. Ability to adapt effectively to change and willingness to take on additional project work and responsibilities.
