Position Overview
This is a full-time role focused on the management and enhancement of Dartmoor's unique landscapes. The Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) is dedicated to preserving the vibrant ecosystems and cultural heritage of Dartmoor while fostering community engagement and supporting the rural economy.

About the Initiative
The Walkham Valley Landscape Recovery Scheme (WVLR) is a pioneering project aimed at achieving large-scale ecological restoration through collaborative efforts. The Walkham catchment, a tributary of the River Tamar, is home to diverse habitats and a rich historical backdrop.

Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
  • Conduct comprehensive surveys across the catchment to establish an ecological baseline and identify key habitats and species.
  • Collaborate with contractors and partners to gather and analyze ecological data.
  • Engage with local communities to build trust and foster long-term relationships.
  • Develop a strategic plan for ecological enhancement that will guide the initiative over the next two decades.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Extensive ecological knowledge and strong botanical skills.
  • Experience in conducting ecological surveys and understanding landscape-scale ecosystems.
  • A background in agricultural systems and experience working with farmers and rural communities.
  • A proven ability to build positive relationships and provide agricultural advice, particularly regarding agri-environmental schemes.

Location
This position will be based within the Dartmoor National Park, with travel required throughout the area.
