SEMH Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist provision school in Blackpool. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

This is a full-time, temporary position, with the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning plans and provide one-on-one or group support to students. Your role will involve mentoring, guiding, and encouraging students to develop positive coping strategies, build resilience, and engage with learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with SEMH needs in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Help to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of educational health care plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support students' holistic development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping them to develop confidence and self-esteem.
  • Assist with managing challenging behaviors in a calm and constructive manner.
About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs and has a calm, empathetic, and patient approach. You will have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or similar needs, and possess strong communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed is essential.
