Position Overview
Thames Water is in search of a skilled Project Manager to oversee critical initiatives within the Water Sector. This role offers a dynamic environment with significant opportunities for professional advancement. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of projects, ranging from upgrades to water treatment facilities to safety enhancements at reservoirs and projects aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster and uphold a proactive culture of health, safety, and environmental stewardship across complex and high-risk project portfolios.
  • Design and implement optimized project plans to meet all regulatory, statutory, and internal deadlines and targets.
  • Ensure accountability throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining governance compliance and facilitating effective stakeholder engagement to ensure seamless project transitions into operational phases.
  • Safeguard and enhance Thames Water's reputation with external stakeholders and customers.
  • Develop comprehensive project briefs, including essential information for early contractor involvement phases.
  • Assist in the creation and definition of tender packages, detailing the scope of work to support the Procurement team at each stage of the tender process, ensuring adherence to strict timelines.
  • Oversee and evaluate contractor performance to ensure project deliverables are met within established timeframes, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Monitor project milestones and forecasts, escalating issues as necessary.

Work Environment
This position is hybrid, requiring presence in the office and on-site for 2-3 days each week. The standard workweek consists of 36 hours, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for both part-time and full-time candidates.

Qualifications
  • Educational background at HNC/degree level, complemented by substantial experience in operational or project management roles.
  • Proven ability to manage, lead, and develop teams within a culture of accountability and success.
  • Strong understanding of contractual obligations related to Project Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing third-party organization performance.
  • Capability to establish and implement feedback mechanisms to enhance business performance.
  • Ability to communicate difficult messages with empathy.
  • A full clean driving license is required due to the nature of the role.

  • Competitive salary ranging from £47,000 to £63,000 annually.
