About the Role

The Practice Development Nurse will work in partnership with the Matrons, Head of Nursing, Clinical Director and General Managers, in the development of this service. This role requires excellent communication skills, systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) training, and the ability to influence and negotiate to improve the haematology (SACT) pathway.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality and standards initiatives
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care
  • Lead and develop staff to achieve service excellence
  • Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse
  • Degree in Cancer Nursing or related subject
  • SACT qualification and competence

Desirable Criteria

  • MSc or willingness to work towards
  • Teaching qualification and evidence of proficient teaching skills

Essential Criteria

  • Evidence of leading and developing staff
  • Evidence of teaching nursing staff
  • Compassion, diplomacy, and assertiveness
  • Recognises and is confident in resolving conflict
  • Able to think creatively and with innovation
  • Effective nurse leader
  • 5 years of experience in senior nursing post within cancer care as Band 6 or above, or equivalent
  • Evidence of service development

Skills

  • Track record of team building and good working relationships
  • Advance knowledge in cancer care and chemotherapy
  • Clinical competency for chemotherapy
  • Evidence of clinical skills such as care of CVADS, Venepuncture, Cannulation, and administration of systemic anti-cancer drugs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
