About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Manager to join our team at Royal Mail Group. As a Shift Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of operators and ensuring the daily work plan is cleared while achieving performance and budgetary targets.

You will be accountable for the day-to-day operation and performance of the shift, ensuring work plan and scorecard targets are achieved, including quality, financial, automation, and employee targets and objectives. You will embed standard operating procedures as the way of working.

As a Shift Manager, you will handle first line HR processes such as Conduct and Attendance, Engagement, and Performance. You will measure and display key metrics for the early shift and analyze and continuously improve them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of operators to achieve performance and budgetary targets
  • Ensure the daily work plan is cleared and standard operating procedures are embedded
  • Handle first line HR processes such as Conduct and Attendance, Engagement, and Performance
  • Measure and display key metrics for the early shift and analyze and continuously improve them
Requirements
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, safety tools and techniques, and the accident investigation process
  • Operational knowledge of the overall plant operation
  • Automation knowledge and ability to contact engineers when machines break down
  • Good communication skills and ability to engage and motivate team members
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong drive, enthusiasm, and resilience
  • IT literacy and proficiency in using internal systems such as PSP, PCM, Qlikview, and Microsoft Office programs
