ABOUT THE ROLE
As the English Curriculum Coordinator, you will oversee a dedicated team of tutors, working closely with the Head of English to ensure that all educational programs are executed to the highest standards. Your role will involve:
- Leading a team of Tutors to enhance student outcomes and experiences in Academic English Skills and related modules.
- Recruiting academic staff in accordance with organizational policies.
- Providing constructive feedback on team performance.
- Actively participating in the Centre Management Team to address challenges and drive improvements.
- Engaging in personal development aligned with managerial goals.
- Seeking feedback from peers to foster growth as an academic leader.
- Maintaining professionalism in all situations, demonstrating resilience under pressure.
- Building effective relationships with colleagues within the Centre and the broader network.
- Independently managing time and workload efficiently.
- Assisting the Head of English in planning and overseeing course design and delivery for optimal student outcomes.
- Collaborating with central teams to implement teaching and assessment strategies.
- Supporting resource allocation for teaching in accordance with scheduling guidelines.
- Contributing to the development of course documentation, including outlines and teaching materials.
- Coordinating fair and secure assessment activities aligned with the Centre's assessment strategy.
- Teaching up to 20 hours as agreed with the Head of Centre and/or Head of English.
- Working with the Student Experience Team to ensure lesson coverage during tutor absences.
- Recording and reporting teaching and assessment activities accurately and timely.
- Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Head of Centre or Head of English.
- Ensuring course design and delivery adhere to quality frameworks and policies.
- Assisting in monitoring actions from the Centre Action Plan relevant to the subject area.
- Liaising with External Examiners and responding to their feedback.
- Supporting high teaching and learning standards through monitoring and collaboration.
- Analyzing data to track progression targets and implementing necessary actions.
- Contributing to the Annual Monitoring Report and other evaluative documents.
- Engaging in governance and quality enhancement activities.
- Maintaining relationships with key academic contacts to facilitate student transitions.
- A Bachelor's degree and a DELTA (or equivalent) / Master's or higher degree in a relevant discipline.
- Training in leadership and management.
- Experience in a leadership role within an educational setting.
- Proven track record of leading teams to achieve high student performance.
- Experience teaching international students in higher or further education.
- Expertise in planning and managing complex educational courses.
- Experience in driving change and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with Virtual Learning Environments and educational technologies.
