Job Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor will play a crucial role in managing significant contracts that provide facilities management solutions for our clients. This position is essential in ensuring the business meets its profit and loss targets, while also enhancing value and accountability from our subcontractor network. The Quantity Surveyor will focus on identifying inefficiencies and implementing agreed-upon business improvement strategies. Building robust relationships at all levels, both internally and externally, is vital to our ethos of care and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in price negotiations and secure quotes for necessary works, materials, and equipment in line with company protocols.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on invoices from suppliers to guarantee that customers receive optimal value for services rendered.
- Foster strong client relationships to ensure clear communication and meet invoicing expectations.
- Collaborate with the finance team to enhance understanding of Quantity Surveying activities, aiming for service excellence.
- Address and negotiate cost-related queries with contractors to maintain high service standards.
- Prepare and finalize priced schedules of work utilizing existing rate schedules.
- Notify, price, and agree on variations within the stipulated timelines as per contract documentation.
- Ensure effective communication regarding all contractual, commercial, financial, and operational matters.
- Manage valuations and agree on payment applications as outlined in contract documentation.
- Submit regular and precise cost/value reports in accordance with established commercial procedures.
- Oversee the commercial aspects of subcontracts, including obtaining quotes, evaluating tenders, and managing payments.
- Develop budget cost plans for each project, ensuring timely completion of schedules and accurate documentation.
Financial Accountability: Value targets will be established and monitored.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Ideally, a degree or equivalent qualification in a business or technical field.
- Proven experience in managing multiple sites.
- Previous exposure to facilities management contracts is advantageous.
- Essential experience in cultivating client relationships at a stakeholder level.
- Proficient in PC applications, with a strong ability to extract, compile, and present performance data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management capabilities.
- Results-oriented with a focus on accountability.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Flexible and strategic in managing business operations.
- Experience in financial budget management.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
- A valid driving license is necessary.
