Building Control Specialist

Adecco Property Services is partnering with a West Midlands local authority to recruit permanent Building Control professionals to join the Planning & Regeneration team.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Building Control Officer to implement and enforce the requirements of the Building Regulations and Associated Legislation in an effective and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own work, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and contributing to the overall performance of the Section.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and enforce the requirements of the Building Regulations and Associated Legislation.
- Manage own work, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the overall performance of the Section.
- Determine submitted applications for compliance with the Building Regulations and Associated Legislation.
- Undertake site inspections to ensure constructed works follow statutory legislation and guidance.
- Prepare statements of evidence on Building Regulation matters and give evidence on behalf of the Council at examinations in public, court, public inquiries, and informal hearings.
- Experience and strong knowledge of Building control aspects and understand its operational function.
- Education to a degree level or any other related qualifications to the building control/built environment or willingness to progress with a BSc/ membership of RICS, CIOB, or CABE.
- Be a Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator to a competency level no lower than Class 2b.
- Able to undertake site inspections in an effective and efficient manner, to be able to verify constructional compliance.
- Great communications skills and stakeholder's management - especially council representatives.
- IT literate and able to use Microsoft package and other relevant tools - GIS.
