About Your New Role

Our Property Litigation team at Weightmans acts for public and private sector landlords, tenants, and real estate developers. Our client base includes local authorities, NHS Trusts, housing associations, social landlords, blue-chip retailers, and owner-managed businesses. We utilize bespoke case management systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to court procedures and deadlines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Lexcel and internal procedures.
  • Assist with and oversee money laundering checks on all new matters, subject to supervision.
  • Support case handlers on housing disrepair and other property litigation cases.
  • Run your own caseload on property litigation and housing matters in due course.
  • Interact with clients and third parties, requiring excellent communication skills.
  • Prepare and copy trial and hearing bundles.
  • Prepare and copy enclosure for papers to counsel and court (or agents).
  • Perform photocopying/electronic bundling for case handlers and secretaries.
  • Manage files, index, and collate large case papers; maintain client details and information on physical files and case management systems.
  • Attend minor applications at court (in chambers).
  • Close and archive files.
  • Assist with client reporting.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining precedent files for the team.
  • Perform other administrative and fee-earning duties as appropriate.
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans' values and relevant policies and procedures.

About You

We are seeking a Paralegal with previous experience in property litigation, preferably with a genuine interest in the area. You should have excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Strong communication and IT skills are essential.
