We are currently seeking a Director of Quantity Surveying to enhance our team in London, focusing on business development and the growth of our consultancy.

As the Director of Quantity Surveying, your role will involve cultivating robust, professional relationships with colleagues, clients, consultants, and contractors, founded on mutual respect, trust, and integrity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing a comprehensive range of pre and post-contract responsibilities, ensuring adherence to best practices, including but not limited to:
    • Cost planning and estimation, encompassing life cycle costing, value management, and engineering.
    • Preparation of tender and contract documentation, including the compilation of bills of quantities.
    • Contract administration.
    • Post-contract cost management.
  • Managing all project activities in accordance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Leadership and Project Oversight:
    • Supervising teams delivering Quantity Surveying services.
    • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Guaranteeing project delivery within the agreed scope of service and budget.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Maintaining regular communication with clients to address their needs and concerns.
    • Representing the consultancy in the marketplace.
  • Upholding a professional demeanor on behalf of the consultancy and promoting company values.
  • Ensuring the efficient and timely execution of all tasks and project requirements, striving to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinating and preparing information to support clients, actively listening to their requirements and responding accordingly.
  • Overseeing, reviewing, and approving team outputs.
  • Reporting to clients and stakeholders in line with company standards.
  • Networking and supporting business development initiatives.
  • Generating new business through personal efforts, including cross-selling additional services to existing clients.
  • Mentoring junior staff and managing their professional development.
  • Participating in and delivering continuous professional development activities.
  • Managing fees, including bid preparation, fee forecasting, and oversight of financial performance.
  • Actively contributing to the management of the business as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Resource management and project allocation to team members.

Profile

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Possession of a RICS accredited quantity surveying degree.
  • MRICS or FRICS accreditation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in bespoke construction IT systems such as CATO, CostX, and Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated core Quantity Surveying skills reflected in successful project delivery across various sectors.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development in line with RICS requirements.
  • Familiarity with current contract forms (e.g., SBCC, NEC).
  • Strong negotiation skills and expertise in contract interpretation.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Team management and leadership capabilities.
