AtkinsRéalis is a leading global consultancy with over 100 years of design and engineering expertise. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our team in the delivery of key defence nuclear projects in the UK and internationally.
Job Summary:We are looking for a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to provide safety case support throughout the design life of a facility and/or operation. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in safety, ideally within the defence and nuclear domain, or other highly regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities:- Shaping the nuclear safety case strategy and working closely with project partners to ensure a safety-informed design.
- Undertaking safety assessments and safety analysis, producing safety reports and other technical documents.
- Providing safety case support to clients in managing nuclear safety and ensuring compliance with Licence Conditions and/or Authorisation Condition.
- Leading and managing safety case activities and teams, mentoring others in a technical capacity.
- Assisting in the production of bids and proposals to aid business growth, implementing and contributing to safety initiatives.
- Honours Degree (or equivalent) in physics, mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline (2:1 minimum).
- Technical practitioner in the Nuclear/Defence domains, able to demonstrate good engineering judgement with experience in applying fundamental engineering principles.
- Excellent written skills, and an eye for detail that means you can produce and review high-quality technical reports.
- Motivated and driven to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality.
- Awareness of their own technical limitations and using the help and support of others to deliver.
