Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and organized graduate psychologist to join our team at the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience within a supportive environment, focusing on adult mental health services.

Key Responsibilities

The Graduate Psychological Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the psychology service, which includes:

  • Assisting in individual and group assessments and therapeutic interventions.
  • Engaging in administrative and organizational tasks to enhance service delivery.
  • Participating in audit and service evaluation activities.

Our team specializes in providing comprehensive psychological assessments and interventions for adults experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges. You will also have the opportunity to support trauma-informed consultations and training for multidisciplinary colleagues.

Role Responsibilities

As a Graduate Psychological Assistant, you will support the work of psychologists and other professionals within the Specialist Adult Mental Health Team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating psychoeducational groups and individual therapy sessions informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Collaborating with service users, caregivers, and clinicians to deliver effective psychological care.
  • Adhering to the Trust's policies and procedures while working under the supervision of qualified professionals.

It is essential to demonstrate behaviors that reflect the Trust's values and comply with the NHS Constitution throughout your duties.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Upper second class honors degree or higher in psychology.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and the application of CBT in clinical settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with moderate to severe mental health issues.
  • Ability to empathize with service users, including those with complex needs.
  • Independent travel capability within the designated area.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas of psychology or mental health.
  • Previous experience in an Assistant Psychologist role.
  • Possession of a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
