We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geophysicist to join our Data Centre team in Norwich. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating, enforcing, and improving procedures for processing, interpretation, analysis, and reporting of geophysical data to meet client objectives and engineering requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and quality control geophysical survey data and deliverables
- Utilize technical solutions for geophysical data handling, processing, and delivery for onshore and offshore applications
- Refine and adhere to policies and tools for preparation, management, documentation, formatting, and distribution of geophysical data and geo-models to clients and stakeholders
- Utilize new technologies related to data handling, transmission, and storage as implemented for business use
- Develop and maintain site characterisation geo-models using appropriate software and processing techniques
- Adhere to Sulmara's software and datasets version control standards, archival system, and make reliable backups, data organization, and archiving from legacy projects
- Collaborate with the QHSE department to improve QA/QC aspects related to data management
- Supervise geophysicists in the reporting team to ensure high-quality data management activities and deliverables
- Assist with data management procedures, including data documentation, QA/QC procedures, versioning, etc.
- Support the Report Manager's commercial input by assisting with line plan development, survey timings, and costing and timing of reporting technical solutions to meet client requirements
- Good knowledge of computer skills and major survey equipment manufacturer's online software packages and equipment
- Ability to utilize offline software at an expert level (Sonarwiz, Kingdom Suite, Oasis Montaj, RadexPro/ProMax, among others)
- Understanding of system calibrations and the effect of calibration on data quality
- Ability to fully manage and perform thorough quality control checks on all aspects of a geophysical survey
- Understanding of geodetics and ability to interpret datums and projections
- Advanced qualification in an appropriate geophysical, geosciences, and/or survey-related subject
- Extensive knowledge/experience in geophysical surveying, with emphasis on 2D and 3D multi-channel seismic techniques
- Ability to obtain a valid passport and/or visas to travel internationally in countries the company operates in
- Understanding of database concepts and processing software (e.g., GIS, SQL, Python, EIVA, QINSy, SonarWiz, Kingdom, and CODA)
- Knowledge of spatial data management, GIS, and GIS data processing
- Experience with Cloud Computing/Networking/Cybersecurity
