Position Overview:

As an Electrical and Automation Systems Engineer, you will engage in a full-time, flexible role from Monday to Friday. This position is tailored for engineers who thrive on the complexities of automation, electro-mechanical systems, and data acquisition technologies within the automotive testing sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of electrical installations on-site, diagnosing and resolving issues on custom systems.
  • Calibrate and configure electronic data acquisition systems, alongside electrical and mechanical components.
  • Implement and fine-tune standard automotive control loops, utilizing advanced software tools.
  • Design and adjust test sequences according to client specifications within a versatile automation platform.
  • Modify system configurations and software to meet diverse functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with third-party hardware, including inverter drives and safety systems, to ensure seamless integration into testing facilities.
  • Develop automation sequences using standard editing tools.
  • Adhere to commissioning protocols and collaborate with management to establish project timelines.
  • Provide initial training to clients on system operations.
  • Travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, to support project needs.
  • Assist clients and colleagues with diagnostics and troubleshooting via various communication methods.
  • Utilize logged data for fault diagnostics and resolution.

Qualifications:
  • A solid understanding of electrical systems, with the ability to interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot effectively.
  • A degree in engineering or a relevant electrical qualification is preferred.
  • Experience in programming or software development, particularly in C# or Visual Basic, is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to apply engineering principles to practical challenges.
  • Familiarity with the automotive sector, including engines and powertrains, is beneficial but not mandatory.

Work Environment:

This role is predominantly site-based, with a significant portion of time spent on client locations across the UK and occasional international assignments. Engineers should be prepared for travel, including overnight stays and extended trips as required.
