Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Practitioner Speech Therapist to join our team in NHS Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive, highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to patients from the neurodivergent community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality diagnostic assessment and evidenced-based post-diagnostic support to individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary specialist neurodevelopmental team to deliver a comprehensive service.
  • Contribute to service objectives to meet national targets and ongoing service development.
  • Undertake professional development appropriate to the specialist role within the Adult Neurodevelopmental Service.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and service users.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Registered Speech and Language Therapist with valid HCPC Registration.
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level.
  • Postgraduate expertise within the speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
  • Advanced specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice.
  • Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in the speciality and applying clinical judgement.
  • Evidence of further developed knowledge and experience in management and/or leadership.
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in the area of speciality, including study days/courses/postgraduate qualifications.
  • Excellent team-working/leadership skills and the ability to motivate and influence others and work using own initiative.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
  • Full driving licence holder.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training up to Masters level or equivalent in particular clinical specialist areas.
  • Member of RCSLT.
  • Postgraduate leadership/management.
  • Extensive postgraduate experience within the specialist area.
  • Experience of involvement in ASD Diagnostic Process.
  • Highly specialist knowledge and extensive clinical skills which are underpinned by current evidence base, acquired through in-depth experience and theoretical study of ASD.
  • Knowledge of current local and national policies in the specialist area.
  • Develops own knowledge base as evidenced by attendance at SIGs, journal clubs, review of current literature.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to national and local clinical guidelines and policies.
