Job Overview

Position: Lead Product Safety Compliance Engineer

Location: Various locations with flexible and hybrid working options available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within an Integrated Development Team focused on the design and implementation of submarine systems and capabilities.
  • Ensure the completion of Product Safety tasks and activities across various systems, aligning with project milestones throughout the Engineering Life Cycle Management.
  • Support Hazard Identification and Analysis initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation or review of safety documentation.
  • Guarantee that the Integrated Development Team adheres to the project’s Safety Management System.
  • Engage with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum predicted grade of 2:2, or relevant work experience combined with a commitment to pursue a degree.
  • Familiarity with Safety and Systems Engineering principles and Engineering Life Cycle Management.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting while also being capable of independent task execution.
  • Adaptability to changing work practices and customer needs.
  • Self-driven with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience as a Product Safety Engineer in the maritime defense sector is preferred, though candidates from other sectors will be considered.

About the Safety & Environmental Team:

This role is ideal for those interested in submarine operations and the Royal Navy's submarine capabilities. As a Product Safety Engineer, you will work alongside System Engineers to influence the development of submarine systems. You will gain insights into the functionality and interconnectivity of submarine systems while ensuring that Product Safety considerations are integrated effectively.

The position offers the chance to engage in all facets of safety management and safety case development, including safety requirements management, hazard identification, and documentation maintenance. This role provides a unique opportunity to acquire a comprehensive understanding of complex systems.
