Position Overview

We are seeking 5 Security cleared Technical Writers / Project Engineers for a contract role, initially for 6 months, with the potential for extension. The successful candidates will be engaged in a variety of planned and reactive tasks involving plant, equipment, and systems, which may encompass installations, repairs, replacements, calibrations, and modifications.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses:

  • Utilizing technical skills while adhering to task instructions to enhance building processes and ensure optimal availability of plant and equipment.
  • Upholding the company's standards for Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality, while remaining informed about relevant procedures, legislation, and safety protocols.
  • Completing all necessary documentation promptly and to a high professional standard.
  • Exhibiting understanding and compliance with all pertinent legislative and company standards within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that both personal and team task execution, behavior, and documentation meet compliance standards.
  • Conducting technical investigations and producing reports to support modifications, abnormal events, or design reviews.
  • Implementing modifications as directed by management.
  • Planning and prioritizing work for oneself and others, managing complex tasks effectively.
  • Making informed technical decisions requiring extensive knowledge across various disciplines.
  • Generating, reviewing, and commenting on documentation and reports as needed, contributing specialized knowledge to the production or review of facility documents.
  • Inspecting and endorsing the quality of work to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Managing housekeeping and storage within work areas as appropriate.
  • Training and mentoring team members in problem-solving and task diagnosis, serving as a positive role model.
  • Staying updated with developments in the field through internal and external training opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Security Clearance: DV level 1 is preferred; SC clearance may be considered.
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship with at least NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in a relevant discipline, or NVQ/Diploma Level 2 with industrial experience.
  • Competency in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to function as a lead team member and coach practitioners in specialized roles.
  • Basic computer skills to utilize relevant business systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of building services, plant, equipment, and processes.
  • Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA).
