Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Laser Processing Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team as a Laser Processing Specialist. As a key member of our manufacturing excellence initiatives, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Integrate lessons learned from both engineering and shop floor perspectives into new process concepts, contributing to RFQ and development processes.
  2. Support the Engineering Manager in milestone activities including design reviews and build events.
  3. Oversee final engineering implementation, ensuring all key deliverables (cycle time, OEE, safety, etc.)
  4. Drive the implementation of new equipment, automation systems, and production methodologies to enhance our manufacturing capabilities.
  5. Collaborate with equipment suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth integration and successful deployment of new technologies.
  6. Work closely with Quality teams to establish and uphold high-quality standards across all manufacturing processes and products.
  7. Implement robust quality control measures to prevent defects and non-conformities.
  8. Investigate root causes of quality issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
  9. Provide technical support to production teams, resolving issues swiftly to minimise downtime.
  10. Participate in cross-functional teams to address production challenges and ensure smooth operations.
  11. Develop and maintain essential manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and SOPs.
  12. Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen events, Six Sigma projects, and value stream mapping exercises.
  13. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety, driving initiatives to meet and exceed targets.

Requirements:

  1. Proven ability to track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, quality, and safety.
  2. Familiarity with equipment standards and a strong understanding of laser cutting/welding processes.
  3. Knowledge of PLC and SCADA programming is desirable.
  4. A team player capable of building strong relationships with project teams and customers.
  5. Strong planning and organisational skills, with a knack for driving projects to successful completion.
