IT System Administrator Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the IT department of a respected UK lending operation as an IT System Administrator. The role is offered on a Hybrid basis (50/50) with time spent in the offices in Brentwood, Essex.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the efficient running of all Linux servers and software.
  • Ensure the efficient running of network infrastructure.
  • Undertake PC Support.
  • Provide cover for Windows System Administration.
  • Provide administration for the telephony system.
  • Support the IT department in all aspects of communications, and disaster recovery.
Systems Administration:
  • Ensure Linux servers run optimally, working proactively to pre-empt any problems.
  • Ensure Linux software is installed and running correctly.
  • Ensure network infrastructure is running correctly and updated to the appropriate firmware.
  • Ensure data is backed up according to agreed schedules.
  • Ensure Remote Access systems (e.g. Rustdesk VPN) are available, and support remote users.
  • Perform administrator tasks for external systems as required.
  • Maintain users.
  • Maintain printing systems.
  • Monitor, maintain and supervise network performance.
  • Diagnose and fix any incidents submitted to the IT system.

The role will offer a comprehensive package including a basic salary of £35-£40k.
