We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Shift Manager to join our team in Carlisle. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operations at our site, ensuring smooth execution and supporting the Transport Operation Manager with various tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a team of drivers to drive performance KPIs and develop a clear operational plan to reduce costs and improve service.
  • Manage fleet maintenance and administration, investigating any service or operational failures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency staff, and subcontractors.
  • Recruit, induct, and manage absence, well-being meetings, and disciplinary procedures within the transport department.
  • Ensure effective communication within the transport teams through regular meetings and briefings.
  • Deliver operational KPIs, maintaining and improving performance levels to maximize efficiency in line with account KPIs.
Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of a transport function within the FMCG Distribution Industry.
  • Background operating at a management level is essential.
  • Transport CPC desirable.
  • Passion for encouraging teamwork and creating an innovative culture where employees can voice suggestions and ideas.
  • Excellent team management skills for developing your team.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Flexibility to cover various shift patterns in the future.
  • Previous experience with Trade Unions beneficial.
