Key Responsibilities:
The Fresh Produce Operations Supervisor is directly accountable to the Production Manager, or in their absence, to the Packhouse Manager, specifically regarding the packing of high and low care fresh produce. The responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and cleanliness of the site and facilities.
  • Ensuring staff adhere to personal hygiene standards, including the use of PPE.
  • Conducting staff training and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing stock rotation, washing/drying processes, packing, and distribution.
  • Ensuring the quality of finished goods.
Additionally, the Fresh Produce Operations Supervisor has specific health and safety responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the safe condition and operation of plant and equipment.
  • Ensuring staff compliance with health and safety notices and operational procedures.


The Fresh Produce Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in assisting the High Care Manager in managing the production staff.


Specific Duties:
In relation to the aforementioned responsibilities, the Fresh Produce Operations Supervisor is specifically tasked with:
1) Supporting the Production Manager in a supervisory capacity.

2) Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of facilities and equipment within the High Care unit.

3) Implementing the company's food safety policies, which include:

  • Ensuring the provision, condition, and use of prescribed PPE by staff.
  • Upholding personal hygiene standards among packhouse staff.
  • Monitoring the health of packhouse staff.
4) Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the High Care unit.


5) Performing necessary machine operations in the High Care area to facilitate product changes, film changes, preventative maintenance, and general machine operations, including de-waterers, optical sorters, and bagging machines.

6) Coordinating daily with the High Care Manager regarding customer orders and yield reports, including average weights, productivity, and costings.

7) Ensuring staff familiarity and compliance with site regulations.

8) Maintaining accurate and complete production records, such as:

  • Cleaning records.
  • Maintenance records (including pre-work checks).
  • Packing and product traceability records, both in paperwork and software systems.
  • Labour records.
9) Achieving set KPIs related to daily targets, quality, team building, and training packing teams.

10) Undertaking any additional tasks as agreed with the management team, for which appropriate training will be provided.
