Job Title: Seamstress / Sewing Machinist

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join a dynamic and innovative printing company with a strong reputation for quality and service.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and versatile seamstress/sewing machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order, altering or repairing customer garments and other articles, constructing garments and other articles, and using irons and pressing machines to erase any creases on the garments and other articles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order.
  • Alter or repair customer garments and other articles, including hemming, mending, lengthening, taking in and letting out seams.
  • Construct garments and other articles while recording the alternations required.
  • Use irons and pressing machines to erase any creases on the garments and other articles.
  • Report any complaints, accidents, equipment malfunction, maintenance faults, suspicious persons, safety hazards or other incidents immediately to the supervisor or the duty Manager.
  • Understand and follow all the objectives, standards, policies and procedures outlined by your Manager.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a seamstress or with tailoring.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced atelier department, working with a calm, positive and problem-solving attitude.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work with a variety of fabrics and materials, including delicate and high-end textiles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
  • Safety and legal compliance are a must. We welcome applications from people with a good safety record.
