Key Responsibilities for the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Leader role:

  • Support plant management in meeting business and financial objectives by creating and sustaining effective manufacturing processes while spearheading continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives throughout the organization. Ensure alignment with strategic plans, UK & European legislation, local regulations, industry standards, and customer expectations.
  • Conduct thorough root cause and failure analyses as necessary.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives and cultivate a culture of ongoing improvement.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and meet customer expectations.
  • Implement strategies to minimize variation in processes.
  • Enhance the team's capability to identify sources of variation through Six Sigma Design and Development methodologies.
  • Engage in concurrent engineering activities and critical design evaluations to optimize product development costs and extend product lifespan.
  • Initiate Design For Manufacturing and Value Engineering projects as applicable.

Qualifications for the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Leader role:

  • Possess a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Hold a degree in Six Sigma or a related discipline.

Essential Skills for the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Leader role:

  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering design and product reliability concepts to facilitate analysis of fluid dynamics, thermal dynamics, electronic circuits, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including value stream mapping and one-piece flow.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma principles and tools related to minimizing process and product variability, such as regression analysis, design of experiments, and hypothesis testing.
  • Strong grasp of problem-solving methodologies for root cause determination and corrective actions, including thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, and Pareto charts.
  • Understanding of ProLaunch methodologies.
  • Proficient in various software applications, including Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, MS Office suite, MiniTab, etc.
