Role Level: Reports to: Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Director

Location: Site Based – HS2 Area North, West Midlands

Role Objective: To enhance profitability and minimize risks for the organization by recognizing and capitalizing on commercial prospects within contractual agreements.

Key Interfaces: Internal: Commercial and broader Project Team. External: Subcontractors, Clients, & Stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Examine and negotiate contract terms and guarantees
  • Manage contracts
  • Provide guidance to operational staff on commercial and contractual matters
  • Draft commercial and contractual communications
  • Conduct internal and external valuations
  • Negotiate and manage Sub-Contracts
  • Identify and formulate claims
  • Negotiate account settlements
  • Analyze costs against budget and oversee accruals

Essential Qualifications: BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with construction contracts and legal frameworks
  • Strong commercial insight
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Comprehension of design, tendering, and construction methodologies
  • Analytical reasoning and numerical proficiency
