Your Role
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to become a vital part of our esteemed Hodderscape editorial team. You will provide essential editorial and administrative assistance to support the acquisition and production of new titles, as well as contribute to the overall administration and coordination of our publishing initiatives across various media.
The successful candidate will engage in every phase of the publication journey, from manuscript submission to final print/eBook production.
Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of editorial and administrative tasks, including:
- Coordinating with freelancers, reviewing their contributions, and compiling necessary revisions
- Preparing preliminary materials and collaborating closely with the production team to ensure timely publication
- Communicating with authors and literary agents
- Updating databases and managing metadata
- Assisting with copywriting and jacket design briefs
- Serving as the primary liaison among editorial, design, and production teams for assigned projects
- Overseeing the production of intricate special editions
- Maintaining the submissions log
- Organizing meetings and documenting minutes
- Managing purchase orders and financial transactions
- Distributing advance copies
Candidate Profile
We seek a highly organized and confident collaborator with exceptional attention to detail and a proactive mindset. This role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in commercial science fiction and fantasy. Given the dynamic and technically intricate nature of our list, strong communication skills, effective time management, prioritization abilities, and teamwork are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and familiarity with Biblio is advantageous.
