Quality Control Manager

Position Overview:
As a Quality Control Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a pivotal role in leading and nurturing a high-performing team within the Quality Control department. Your leadership will set clear expectations and foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and mentor staff to achieve exceptional competency and performance levels. Provide constructive feedback and coaching to enhance individual and team results.
- Encourage a culture of innovation among team members, swiftly addressing challenges to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Oversee the scheduling, planning, and administrative functions of the Quality Control laboratory, ensuring that all targets are met within established timelines.
- Collaborate with other business units, offering guidance and leadership as necessary.
- Ensure that all testing adheres to product specifications and complies with external quality control standards.
- Monitor, document, analyze, and report on Quality Control activities, trends, results, and recommendations.
- Review and approve all testing results, reports, deviations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support the Quality Control department.
- Maintain current knowledge of ISO, BS, and other relevant standards, ensuring their application in laboratory practices.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing process performance and compliance enhancement programs within the Microbiology Laboratory.
- Address non-conformances affecting Microbiology Laboratory processes in a timely manner, collaborating with the Manufacturing Sciences team to minimize customer impact.
- Provide microbiological expertise, troubleshooting, training, and support to the laboratory team across all product ranges.
- Oversee the release of products to meet both internal and external acceptance criteria.
- Ensure a safe laboratory environment by adhering to all safety protocols and collaborating with health and safety teams for compliance.
- Foster collaborative relationships between internal departments and Quality, focusing on enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Manage personnel and fiscal budgets effectively.
- Promote and embody the core values of Thermo Fisher: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in microbiology or a related science field, with experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or clinical Quality Control.
- Proven experience in leading a team of scientists.
- Experience in operating BSL2 laboratories; BSL3 experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical device regulations, GMP, EU Regulation, or ISO standards such as 13485, 11133, and Guide 34.
- Strong understanding of quality and scientific principles.
- Experience in laboratory safety protocols.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a global organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP Quality Module.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence and build consensus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
