One-to-One Learning Support Tutor

Randstad Student Support is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker to join our team. As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Cambridge.
About the Role:This is a hybrid role that requires flexibility to work with students in person and online. You will be responsible for creating individual learning plans tailored to each student's needs, encouraging them to become independent learners. Your role will involve:
- Developing independence in students
- Building on strengths and learning strategies
- Creating strategies for organisation and time management
- Creating action plans to stay on track with studies
- Developing research skills and widening knowledge using various sources
- Distinguishing appropriate sources and correctly using references
- Improving comprehension skills in reading and writing
You will work closely with students to address their individual needs and concerns, ensuring that any issues are addressed in a timely manner. Confidentiality and professionalism are essential in this role.
Requirements:To be successful in this role, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies:
- British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
- Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)
- Dyslexia Guild
- The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
Desirable skills include:
- Experience working with clients with specific learning difficulties
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to identify ways of helping students build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
- Punctuality and reliability
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of students
