Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at Westbank Practice. As a key member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the efficient day-to-day running of our practice.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver care within your scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
  • Deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion, and patient education.
About Us

Westbank Practice is a busy and growing practice providing care and support for approximately 9,000 patients across our Exminster and Starcross surgeries. We are a teaching practice with Registrars, F2s, and Medical Students on rotation.

Our clinical team consists of four GP partners, four salaried GPs, one Paramedic, four Practice Nurses, two healthcare assistants, and one phlebotomist.

Person Specification
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Effective time management (planning and organizing)
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
  • Venepuncture
  • New patient medicals, including height, weight, BP, and pulse
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes
Qualifications and Experience
  • Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
