About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Proposition Manager to join our team at WHSmith Retail Holdings Limited. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will be responsible for shaping and developing our food propositions in our travel stores.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Development: Define and deploy our various food propositions, identifying gaps in our offer and providing recommendations for addressing these.
  • Innovation Lead: Enhance our reputation in food through proposition development and relationships with brand partners and landlords.
  • Category Expert: Understand the profitability of our food propositions and optimize our offer in each location.
  • Stay up-to-date with customer trends and competitor offers to inform new propositions.
  • Influence key stakeholders and teams to enhance our food offer, working closely with the Business Development team.
  • Define our future coffee and breakfast offer, including hot food solutions and recommendations for deployment.
  • Coach and support workstreams to deliver our food vision.
  • Review, share successes, and act on improvements to future propositions.
Requirements
  • Desirable: Food service experience.
  • A love of food with previous experience in food buying or category management.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and with ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Commercially astute, technically savvy, and able to operate independently.
