Role Overview

We are seeking a Finance Manager to become an integral part of our Renewables Financial Control team. This role encompasses both financial oversight and technical accounting responsibilities, as well as providing guidance to the Renewables Finance team. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring the precise and timely execution of all financial operations, including general accounting, period-end closing, and statutory reporting.

The financial reporting aspect of this position will involve managing our operational offshore Joint Venture assets, while the technical accounting component will require support for M&A activities and guidance during the audit processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the month-end and year-end reporting processes for offshore operational Joint Ventures, while managing and nurturing a team of finance professionals.
  • Ensure accurate reporting information is delivered to key stakeholders, including business partners and group finance.
  • Provide leadership in technical accounting within the SSE Renewables division, particularly during M&A activities.
  • Prepare IFRS statutory accounts and review technical accounting documentation for audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Group financial control and accounting policies.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A recognized accounting qualification (ICAS, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with a solid understanding of IFRS & FRS 101.
  • A meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of financial controls, particularly in relation to Renewables.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects effectively while maintaining high standards.
  • A proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to driving change.
  • Previous experience in leading or mentoring a team is advantageous but not mandatory.
