Floating Support Worker

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Floating Support Worker to join our team at Minerva. As a key member of our team, you will provide holistic support to young people in supported housing, helping them to create a safe and stable living environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish positive relationships with young people and support them to achieve their goals.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to young people, ensuring their needs are met and their support plans are implemented.
  • Work collaboratively with the Housing Worker to provide practical support with budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe home environment.
  • Support the move-in and move-on process, ensuring a smooth transition for young people.
  • Help young people develop the skills and confidence needed to live independently, including managing finances, cooking, and maintaining a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Ensure a coordinated approach is adopted, providing young people with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge, and work as part of a team to carry out day-to-day tasks.
  • Record, respond to, and action young people's ideas, thoughts, and feedback.
  • Support and engage young people to be good neighbors and assist in resolving neighborhood disputes.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the Northern Ireland Care Council (NISCC).
  • Valid Driver's License and vehicle.
  • 1 year's experience of working with young people in supported housing or a community-based support environment, or a Degree in Social Work with 6 months' experience of working with young people in supported housing.
  • Understanding and knowledge of homelessness, mental health, and substance use.
