About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Materials Scientist to join our team at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington. As a key member of our polymer composite materials team, you will play a crucial role in delivering our National Measurement System (NMS) funded research programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development of new test methods and measurement techniques for polymer composites.
  • Collaborate with our team of scientists and engineers to deliver projects for external customers.
  • Develop and implement bespoke measurement solutions for industrial customers.
  • Write scientific reports and peer-reviewed papers, and present at conferences and internal meetings.
  • Participate in the development of new testing techniques and standardised testing methods.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven Materials Scientist with a strong background in materials science and a special interest in characterisation of polymer composites. You will have a degree in engineering or materials science and be confident in mechanical design and problem-solving.
