About the Role

NHS Professionals Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant to join their Microbiology team at a busy hospital. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for participating in the collection of specimens, sorting samples, and labeling and culturing samples on relevant media.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the collection of specimens from pathology reception and sort samples for various benches.
  • Label and culture samples on relevant bacterial culture media.
  • Participate in the safe disposal of laboratory waste and assist in the handling of deliveries and goods storage.
  • Work under the supervision of a HCPC registered BMS and assist with analyzers for urine microscopy and susceptibility testing.
  • Participate in booking laboratory requests onto the pathology LIMS system.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Laboratory experience.
  • Education to NVQ Level 2, GCSE or equivalent in Maths, English, and Science subjects.
  • Experience of data entry.
