Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Microbiology team at Watford General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for participating in the collection of specimens, sorting samples, and labeling and culturing samples on relevant bacterial culture media.

Main Duties

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the collection of specimens from pathology reception and sorting samples for various benches.
  • Labeling and culturing samples on relevant bacterial culture media.
  • Participating in the safe disposal of laboratory waste and assisting in the handling of deliveries and goods storage.
  • Working under the supervision of HCPC registered BMS and assisting with analyzers for urine microscopy and susceptibility testing.
  • Participating in booking laboratory requests onto the pathology LIMS system.
