Senior Communications Specialist

Mindfully Wired Consulting is a dynamic and innovative cause and effect communications consultancy specializing in environmental issues and campaigns through bold, values-led communication. With a focus on ocean-themed topics, we work across marine governance and protection, seafood marketing, the blue economy, and coastal communities. The RoleWe are seeking a proactive, well-organized, and creative communications professional with a background in science and/or policy to join our busy team and lead the delivery of high-quality communications and events for a number of new and existing projects. The successful applicant will be equally comfortable delivering events as well as developing and executing communications strategies. You will work closely with our Events Lead, Science & Policy Leads, and members of the Senior Leadership Team to support delivery of a range of projects centered on marine management, fisheries, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of a set portfolio of events-centered projects and manage all aspects of client business, from developing and executing communications and events strategies to maintaining strong client relationships and project and budget management.
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned clients, responsible for building relationships and managing the delivery of work among your internal team.
- Plan, design, and deliver online and in-person events for diverse projects relating to fisheries and the marine environment.
- Produce high-quality written outputs, including conference reports, policy briefs, briefing documents, conference agendas, newsletters, press releases, and more.
- Copyedit and proofread a diverse range of materials.
- Develop and implement bespoke communications and social media strategies and content, and maintain communications channels for clients.
- Understand the importance of and relationship between client service and profitability and work within the boundaries of budgets.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and first-class attention to detail.
- Experience planning and delivering high-quality in-person, online, and hybrid events, including agenda design and logistics organization.
- Proven experience in leading projects.
- Top-notch organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and handle a variety of projects and tasks while maintaining high standards.
- Confident with IT and not afraid to troubleshoot technical equipment during events.
- Previous knowledge of fisheries, seafood, or marine conservation issues.
- Flexible working: core hours 10am-4pm with 3 days per week expected in the office.
