Job Responsibilities

As an Inmate Rehabilitation Specialist, you will be responsible for the coordination, planning, and execution of comprehensive strategies aimed at managing inmate behavior and rehabilitation. This role is grounded in evidence-based methodologies, focusing on:

  • Effective communication techniques
  • Assessment of inmate criminal risks and treatment needs related to substance abuse
  • Facilitating inmate transformation through structured case plans, motivational incentives, and appropriate sanctions
  • Delivering programs and services that target criminogenic needs

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should possess a solid understanding of social work principles and rehabilitative counseling methods, including motivational interviewing and intervention strategies. Familiarity with inmate programs and supervision practices is crucial. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to mediate conflicts and exemplify pro-social values. Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to maintain clinical boundaries and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while assessing and documenting inmate progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge in social work, rehabilitative counseling, or a related field is preferred. Professional certification in a relevant discipline is advantageous. Experience working with inmates in reentry, pre-release, or cognitive community environments is highly valued.
