Job Title: External Examiner for BTEC Higher National Esports Programs

We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified individual to join our team as an External Examiner for BTEC Higher National Esports programs. As an External Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our Higher National qualifications.

About the Role

The External Examiner will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice on program and assessment design and delivery to Pearson education centers and tutors.
  • Contributing to the quality enhancement of delivery through external examiner sampling and visit activities.
  • Ensuring centers' compliance with Pearson quality assurance expectations for RQF BTEC Higher National programs.
  • Affirming national standards have been achieved and upheld.
  • Supporting centers in the delivery and assessment of BTEC Higher National programs to national standards.
Key Responsibilities

The External Examiner will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking sampling of assessed student work to establish outcomes are in accordance with Pearson and professional standards for Higher National qualifications.
  • Providing sampling-related reports, feedback, and development advice to centers and Pearson.
  • Producing quality assurance reports for centers and Pearson on the sampling undertaken, outcomes reached, and support provided.
  • Applying appropriate sanctions, in consultation with the team, where necessary to assure quality of learning, teaching, assessment, and professionalism.
  • Working with centers to develop and implement action plans where standards are not being upheld.
  • Facilitating sourcing materials for training and standardization events.
  • Participating annually in online training and standardization activities.
  • Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the role of External Examiner.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in esports education and the esports ecosystem, or in esports or related industry or related experience in any of the following in Business, Media, and/or Sports sectors.
  • A recognized qualification at least at FEHQ Level 6.
  • A student and customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work within the scope of service level agreements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using technology to communicate with a variety of individuals and teams.
  • A good working knowledge of the specifications relevant to the sector.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
